Syble Townsel's blog ::Red Sox vs Yankees - It Never Gets Old

After               a               terrible               start               to               the               MLB               season,               the               Boston               Red               Sox               have               been               playing               great               baseball               as               of               late.

With               their               lost               to               the               Chicago               Cubs               on               Saturday               night,               the               Red               Sox               are               only               ½               game               behind               in               the               AL               East               division               and               only               trail               to               the               New               York               Yankees               and               Tampa               Bay               Devil               Rays.

Before               I               make               my               bold               predictions,               it               is               important               to               note               that               I               will               not               count               Sunday               night's               game               against               the               Cubs               in               my               ten               day               prediction,               but               will               record               predictions               for               the               three               game               series               against               the               Cleveland               Indians,               four               game               series               against               the               Detroit               Tigers,               and               the               three               game               series               against               the               Chicago               White               Sox.

Boston               Red               Sox               vs.

Cleveland               Indians:               Game               1               on               Monday               Night
One               of               the               feel-good               stories               of               the               2011               MLB               Season               is               the               Cleveland               Indian's               significant               improvement               from               the               69-93               season               that               they               had               last               season.

Fueled               by               talented               hitting               and               pitching,               the               Indians               are               currently               28-15               and               have               the               best               record               in               baseball.

The               Indians               also               made               stunning               news               when               they               swept               the               Red               Sox               in               early               April.

With               this               understanding,               the               Red               Sox               will               most               likely               want               to               seek               revenge               in               Cleveland.

Clay               Bucholz               and               former               Red               Sox               starting               pitcher               Justin               Masterson               are               pitching               Monday               night,               and               I               predict               that               the               Red               Sox               will               win               the               first               game               with               the               score               of               4-2.
               Boston               Red               Sox               vs.

Cleveland               Indians:               Game               2               on               Tuesday               Night
The               fire-throwing               Josh               Beckett               and               Fausto               Carmona               will               pitch               in               game               two               on               Tuesday               night.

Beckett               is               pitching               incredibly               this               season,               and               I               do               not               expect               that               he               will               continue               with               his               current               rate               of               3-1,               1.73               ERA,               0.92               WHIP,               and               52:17               K:BB               ratio.

I               will               predict               that               Beckett               will               give               up               five               earned               runs               in               four               innings,               but               the               Red               Sox               will               be               victorious               with               the               help               of               Adrian               Gonzalez,               and,               surprisingly,               Carl               Crawford.
               Boston               Red               Sox               vs.

Cleveland               Indians:               Game               3               on               Wednesday               Night
Jon               Lester               is               also               having               a               great               season               as               he               has               a               record               of               6-1,               3.68               ERA,               1.35               WHIP,               and               a               63:26               K:BB               ratio.

Lester               will               pitch               against               Mitch               Talbot               who               is               currently               on               the               disabled               list,               but               the               Indians               will               strike               back               and               be               victorious               on               Wednesday               night.

Asdrubal               Cabrera               and               Carlos               Santana               will               be               the               decision-makers               for               the               Indians.

The               main               reason               why               I               believe               that               the               Red               Sox               will               win               two               out               of               three               games               in               Cleveland               is               because               two               of               the               Indians'               best               offensive               hitters               are               currently               on               the               disabled               list:               Grady               Sizemore               and               Travis               Hafner.
               Boston               Red               Sox               vs.

Detroit               Tigers:               Game               1               on               Thursday               Night
On               Thursday               night,               the               Red               Sox               will               continue               their               road               trip               and               play               against               the               22-23               Detroit               Tigers.

As               with               any               road               trip,               the               Red               Sox               may               become               exhausted               or               not               perform               up               to               their               usual               standards.

Another               reason               why               the               Red               Sox               will               lose               their               first               game               in               Detroit               is               because               the               mediocre               Alfredo               Aceves               is               pitching               against               the               incredibly               talented               Max               Scherzer               who               is               having               an               all-star               season               with               a               record               of               6-1,               2.98               ERA,               a               1.37               WHIP,               and               a               60               to               24               K:BB               ratio.

Expect               Scherzer               to               continue               his               dominant               ways               and               the               Tigers               to               outperform               the               Red               Sox.
               Boston               Red               Sox               vs.

Detroit               Tigers:               Game               2               on               Friday               Night
With               Tim               Wakefield               pitching               against               Rick               Porcello               in               the               second               of               four               games               series,               pitching               will               probably               not               be               the               main               factor               in               the               Red               Sox               victory               on               Friday               night.

However,               Crawford               will               make               up               for               his               lousy               start               of               the               season               and               Kevin               Youkilis               will               also               provide               an               offensive               surge.
               Boston               Red               Sox               vs.

Detroit               Tigers:               Game               3               on               Saturday               Night
Bucholz               will               pitch               the               third               game               against               the               decent               Phil               Coke.

Coke               has               not               received               much               run               support               from               the               Tigers               this               season,               and               even               with               a               3.88               ERA               and               a               1.25               WHIP,               Coke               has               a               meager               1-5               record.

Expect               great               run               support               from               the               Tigers               as               the               Tigers               will               outperform               and               outpitch               the               Red               Sox               in               Detroit.
               Boston               Red               Sox               vs.

Detroit               Tigers:               Game               4               on               Sunday               Night
With               the               fourth               game               played               on               Sunday               afternoon,               the               Red               Sox               will               attempt               to               even               the               series               against               the               Tigers.

It               would               be               safe               to               predict               that               the               best               of               four               games               series               will               be               split               into               two               victories               for               each               team,               but               I               am               known               for               my               bold               predictions.

With               the               all-star               Justin               Verlander               pitching               Sunday               afternoon,               I               expect               that               the               Tigers               and               Red               Sox               will               play               a               close               game,               but               the               advantage               is               in               favor               of               the               Tigers.
               Boston               Red               Sox               vs.

Chicago               White               Sox:               Game               1               on               Monday               Night
The               first               game               of               the               series               will               mark               the               13th               and               18th               consecutive               game               without               a               day's               rest               for               the               Boston               Red               Sox               and               the               Chicago               White               Sox,               respectively.

As               a               result,               both               teams               may               not               play               their               best               and               may               play               sloppy               defense.

The               real               difference               maker               in               the               first               game               of               the               three               games               series               is               that               Lester               and               Gavin               Floyd               are               expected               to               pitch,               and               I               predict               that               both               pitchers               will               perform               their               best               pitching.

However,               Adrian               Gonzalez               will               hit               a               game-decisive               home               run               in               left               field               in               the               top               of               the               8th               inning               to               help               the               Red               Sox               win               their               first               game               in               Chicago.
               Boston               Red               Sox               vs.

Chicago               White               Sox:               Game               2               on               Tuesday               Night
The               Red               Sox               will               again               have               better               offensive               than               the               Chicago               White               Sox,               and               I               predict               that               David               Ortiz               and               Dustin               Pedroia               will               be               the               main               reasons               why               the               Red               Sox               will               outperform               the               White               Sox.
               Boston               Red               Sox               vs.

Chicago               White               Sox:               Game               3               on               Wednesday               Night
Again,               it               would               be               a               safe               decision               to               say               that               the               White               Sox               would               win               this               game,               but               lose               the               series               against               the               Red               Sox.

Instead               of               making               a               safe               decision,               I               will               predict               that               the               Red               Sox               will               sweep               the               three               game               series               against               the               White               Sox.
